A son of Richard Barnes and Carol Ann Larsen Major, Jimmy was born August 12, 1961, in the Canal Zone, Republic of Panama. With his military family he spent his early years in Oklahoma, Kentucky, Turkey, California, Virginla and Alabama. He graduated from Davis High, and attended WSU, USU, DATC, and has served in the Army. He married Corene Beecher Sutton.

They were later divorced. A member of the Francis Peak LDS Ward, Jimmy served as the ward's assistant executive secretary and farnily history extractor. A bright, friendly, outgoing person, Jimmy loved psople, the family cabin in Idaho, fishing, physical fitness and gourrnet cooking. He is survived by his parents; grandmothers, Muriel Larsen Wadley and Josephine Barnes Major, step-grandfather, Merlyn Wadley, three brothers, R. Keith Major (Elise); Douglas L.

Major (Janet); David Warren Major (Kristina); two uncies, Loyd W. Larsen and Max B. Major; seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Orville L. Larsen and Lewis R.

KAYSVILLE-james Loyd Major, 33, died July loved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Monday, July 17, 1995, at the Manor Care Center in Ogden, Utah. She was born March 10, 1906 in Logan, Utah, a daughter of Joseph and Sigred L. Larsen Benson, The sixth of eight children and a fraternal twin. She grew up in Southern Idaho, on a dry farm.

She loved to ride horses, especially her little black mare. Back in Logan, she met Hyrum Carlisle Maughan, they were Edith B. Maughan RIDGECREST, B. Maughan, be- grandmother, passed married September 23, 1923, in Sait Lake City, Utah; their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. In the early days of their marriage, they owned and operated a lunch stand just outside of Logan, they name it the "Come Maughan During World War II, Edith and as Hyrum was called, moved to the Mojave Desert.

They became one of the first familles to settle in Ridgecrest, Calif. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served as a visiting teacher, spiritual living teacher and counselor in the Primary and Relief Society. She also served in Seminary education. She enjoyed going to girl's camp as an advisor with her husband for several years while in their 70's. She enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping and spent many wonderful times with her husband in their camper, visiting relatives and friends.

She loved flowers and everything green-she truly made her place in the desert "blossom as the rose." She was an accomplished painter and created many beautiful oil paintings. Her love for and kindness to others and her wonderful, wry sense of humor will be greatly missed. Surviving are two daughters, Maria (Larry) Burgess, Clearfield; and Sheryll (Russell) Hicks, Bakersfield, grandchildren, Stephen (Naco), Wendy (Rob), Amanda, Daniel, Tamara, Natalie, Barbara, Patricia and Jessica. She was the last surviving member of her family and was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Patricia Marie. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22, 1995, 9 a.m.

Served in the Coast Guard, Navy. Worked at Tooele Army Depot. Re- Toast Mas- Survivors, sons, Patrick D. (Susan), and Valerian; daughters, Marilyn Johnson, Karen Eileen (J.J.) Snyder: 14 grandchildren; brothers, Ivan, Willard, and John S. Young; sisters, Shirley, Martha Ruth, and Einora.

Preceded in death by daughter, Patricia; sister, Lorraine; brothers, Herbert. Frankiin, and Marvin; and one grandchild. Burdened with medical problems that would hove destroyed the average person, Kathie selfessly went about her responsibilities as mother and wife.

She was truly a giant in every way. Her example of faith, courage, and obedience touched the lives of all that knew her. Born July 3, 4946 to Gerald and Faye Bellston in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Interment, Salt Lake City Fern Whitesides Richards Ruth Jolynne Torkelson Ryan Ruth Jolynne Torkelson age 51, of Orem, Fem Whitesides Richards, 94, resident of San Pedro, formerty of Wilmington, passed away July 17, 1995. She was bom May 10, 1901 in Layton, Utah, to Marion Mark and Mary Ellen Bennett Whitesides. She married Leland Stanford Richards, of 0g- den, June 15, 1929, at the home of her parents. She attended school in Layton, graduating from Davis High School, then attended Utah State University and graduated from University of Utah.

Fern taught 3rd grade in Layton before moving to Los Angeles in 1929. She continued her teaching career there until her retirement in 4966. She was active in the LDS Church. Fem is survived by a daughter, Sydney (David) Bond; grandchildren, Richard (Carrie) Bond and Carol Bond, all of Rancho Paios Verdes, and Susan (Gary) Chrystler, Provo, Utah; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland, and son, Leland Stanford Richards, Jr.

and six brothers and sisters. Services will be held Friday, July 21, 1995 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 3an Pedro. Burial will be at the Green Hills Memorial Park in San Pedro. Hertha Schuif died July 18, 1995, after a difficult illness. She was born Dec.

24, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Robert L. and Ruth Hyde Torkelson. She was a member of the LDS Church, and had a strong and abiding faith. She served in many church callings, most especially in teaching little children. She was happiest when fixing dinner to take to someone, and making Christmas treats.

She loved to go to the temple, play the piano, cook for her family, embroider, read, write poetry, play with the dogs, and tend her grandchildren. She is greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Jolynne is survived by her mother; her four loved children, Kari, Scott (Lara) Ryan, Tami (Fred) Vanderwertf, and Heidi Jeanette; and her two adored grandchildren, Freddie Vanderwerf and Kylie Ryan; her devoted sister, Kathy Torkelson; her brother, C. Robert (June) Torkelson; numerous nieces, nephews and her pups, Tasha and Brandy; preceded in death by her father. Married her sweetheart Peter Schuif, August 18, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many church positions in Warren R.

Tyler, Jr. Warren R. Tyier, Jr. died July 18, 1995 in Salt the 30th and McKinley wards. Retired from ZCMI, where she worked in the men's furnishings department.

Burt loved her family, church, her work, and her friends. Worked for the Union Pacific, retiring after 37 years as district engineer Lake City. Married Marjorie Bloom in 1949 in Omaha, Nebraska. Marjorie died July 14, 1995 in Salt Lake. Warren is survived by one sister, Dr. Myra Tyler of Pacitica, Calif; two sons by a former marrage, Lee S.

Mateo, and Toby T. Baly of San Froncisco, and three grandchildren. Joint services for Warren and Marjorie were held Wednesday, July 19, at Evans Early Mortuary. Sharp OBITUARIES Brooks and beloved and friend, Idamay Stevens SALT CITY-Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, Idamay Stevens Brooks, passed away July 17, 1995, of cancer. She was born May 9, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the youngest daughter of Embra and Ida Watts Stevens. She married her favorite musician and the love of her life. John (Roy) Brooks, on June 2, 1945, in Pocatello. A graduate of South School, Idamay soon chose to leave promising business and Joe (Mede') Cordova promising business and sociai affairs behind to focus on what she did best, caring for her family.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, always willing to share her incredible energy, emotional strenath. compassion and wisdom with her children. She enjoyed gardening, her many beautiful cats, and especially aufomobile trips to St. George and beyond with Roy. Survivors include her husband; children, Judy (Gary) Nielsen of Kamloops, British Columbia; Randall (Marci) Brooks of Hailey, Idaho; Michael (Jackie) Brooks of Salt Lake City; and Nancy Brooks of New York, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; a brother, Harold (June) Stevens of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Jean Arata, Peggy (Barr) Quist, both of Salt Lake City.

Born April 10, 1927 in Durango, Colorado to Joe Cordova and Manuelita Rerrera. Married Teddy Chacon in Durango, Colorado in 1949. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and all who knew him. He spent much of his life in social work and helping those in need. Dad's passion for feeding those in need was what kept him going these last few years.

William Arthur Fawcett Ill SMITHFIELD-Genee Wangsgaard Evans, 76, died Monday, July 17, 1995 af Logan Regional Hospital of complications of multiple sclerosis. She was born July 25, 1918 in Huntsville, Utah, the daughter of David Orson and Eva Willes Wangsgaard.

She graduated from Ogden High School and received a B.S. in history from Utah State Agricultural College in 1940. On October 3 of that year she married Dr. Darwin Eschier Evans in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A resident of Smithfield, Utah since 1946, Genes was a lifelong homemaker.

She has been a member of the Smithfield Civic Club and served a Relief Society cuitural refinement teacher and on the Smithfieid LDS Stake Primary Board. She was president of the First District Dental Auxiliary and the Utah State Dental Auxiliary. She has been a volunteer at Logan Regional Hospital and served on the Cache County and Smithfield City Library Boards and has been active in local politics. Genee is survived by her husband of 54 years; five children, Judy, Alexandria, Virginia; J.D. (Tanya), Falls Church, Virginia; Mary Lynn (Frank) Hutchison, Fairfax, Virginia; Darla (Jeff) Blackmon, Hanover Park, Illinois; Robert, North Logan; one brother, Dee (Florence) Wangsgaard, and a sister-in-law, Peggy Wangsgaard Daines; 12 grandchildren; and many good friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by one son, Christen Neil, her parents and one brother, Reid Wangsgaard. The family wishes to express our profound thanks to the staff of Interim Home Healthcare and Logan Regional Hospital for their kind, dignified, compassionate care of our dear Genee. William Arthur Fawcett Ill, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died on July 18, 1995 affer a valiant fight against cancer. He was born on October 23, 1918 in Caliente, Nevada, to William Arthur Fawcett and Harret Pear Harris Fawcett. As a youth, he was an avid tennis player who fondly recalled the thrill of being chosen to play in a doubles demonstration with World Champion tennis star, Don Budge.

He married Ruby Adelaide Jorgensen in Salt 1938. She was his loving Gene Raymond Meadows, Jr. wife and partner for 47 years. Ruby died March 19, 1985. At 21 he began working for Union Pacific Rallroad and became a locomotive engineer.

He dearly loved operating the big 800 Class and 3900 Class steam engines. William was a founder of Quality Linen Towel Supply Company of Salt Lake City, Ulah. He also founded Montana Linen Towel Supply Company, Billings, Montana. He and his wife then retumed to Salt Lake, building several large homes in Salt Lake, Carilion Square In Orem and Raintree Apart. ments in Provo, Utah.

In the 1970's William and operated the Teton Youth Improvement Fouridation and Its Wild West Ranch at Fox Creek, Idaho, where they helped over 500 disadvantaged youth over a 13-year period. His philanthropic spirit has helped many. William is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Rich Fawcett, whom he married June 24, 1994; his son, Dr. William Arthur Fawcett IV, and his wife, Virginia: grandchildren, Natalie William A. Fawcett V.

Myles Edwin Spainhower Our beloved husband, father and brother, age 71, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died July of a heart attack, after he caught his limit.

He was born May 7, 1924 to John Wesley and Drucilla Whittear Spainhower in Santaquin, Utah. Married Lorraine Johnson, May 19, 1948 in Payson, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, April 4, 1956. He was an active member of the Church, having enjoyed serving in the Scouting program. Myles served his country in the Navy during World War Il on the USS Baldwin.

He enjoyed the outdoors, his upholstery business, trains, and most of all his family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Levi served his country in the United States Army during World War I. He served faithfully in many callings in the LDS Church, served as Bishop of Manti North Ward and as a worker in the Manti Temple for many years and even up until the time of his death.

An auto mechanic by trade, he also worked as the engineer of the Manti Temple for many years until retirement. He dedicated his life to service to his God, country, family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Helen and his four children: Darrell (Sandra), Ely; Kathleen (Roger) Bingham, Phoenix; David (Kindel), South Jordan; Marsha (Rick) Smith, Salt Lake City. They have 14 grandchildren; also a sister, Lillian Fox. Preceded in death by a sister, Donna Johnson.
