Overview[]

This mission triggers after Sandrock Strikes Back.

Conduct[]

The day after the events of Sandrock Strikes Back concludes, the player will wake up to the following message:

(Matilda's mech dropped an Old World chip of some sort... I'll have to see what Qi says about it.

The mission starts.

Go to the Civil Corps[]

As the resident "space-case", Qi may have some insight as to what the chip could be used for.Go to the Civil Corps

The player needs to go to the marker on the map, just outside the Civil Corps. Qi and Justice are talking.

...Shot into space, you say?
That's right. Straight into space! I couldn't believe it. Heck, I had no idea there were spaceships there at all! Loada bunkers, stairs, factory lookin' things. Saw a bunch of spaceship parts, man, it was huge! Never seen anythin' like it...
...Did you happen to see... the name of the ship?
Yeah, it was like, "Olive Pea" or something. I figured it was some sorta space food delivery service or somethin'.
The Olympia...
Uh... yeah, that coulda been it, too. I mean, the food stuff was just a theory... Matilda was in that robot, and came real close to me. I jus' thought back to my training, and...
Olympia... found the Olympia...
Haha... haha... hahaha!
I need to go... It's finally here... I've waited so long for this moment...
Uh... are you okay Director...?
Okay?! I'm way more than okay! This is fascinating! Do you know what this means?
That... I have to take you there...?
It means that the people of the Old World really did travel to the stars! When the Day of Calamity happened, there were people out there amongst the stars! They probably survived! And yes, you have to take me there...!
Oh hey Player, just in time. Director Qi wants to know more about the Olympathing, maybe you can enlighten him? I've got uh... things to do, so I've gotta run, seeya!
Oh yes! I'm still wondering about Matilda's mech. The Sheriff said it's got an excape mechanism that's strong enough to send the control pod into space. That's incredible!
The energy output must've been massive to be able to move such a heavy object to escape velocity. It must have even out-produced the R47 Ultra! I'm so glad that-
...I feel like this conversation is very one sided, Player. It is almost as if you did not come to discuss the wonders of robotics.
  • I found this chip...
  • Could we add thrusters to the co*ckpit?

The first option gives no additional dialogue.

→Could we add thrusters to the co*ckpit?
I cannot deny that the thought has crossed my mind... It could prove useful in dire situations for the control pod to have an escape function... but based on the best available technology that we have, it would significantly enlarge the structure itself.
Qi(Relationship +3)
The mobile suit would require fuel tanks for the thrusters, which would introduce further combat vulnerabilities.
If we balanced it correctly it shouldn't affect flight dynamics, however having fuel tanks attached to the control pod would be a constant risk.
Exciting.
Ah, but I assume you had something else to talk to me about?
Hm? A chip? Let me take a look...
You found this in the Mecha-Tilda? Wait a minute... this looks familiar... hang on, I'll be right back.

The screen fades to black. Once it fades back in:

I was right! This is a RX76 chip. I cross referenced the serial number with a database of relic technology that I had been compiling. It's an Old World military chip.

Qi takes the Mysterious Chip from the player.

It was used in a very cool sword called the Plasma Saber, which was the weapon of choice of Gangum pilots everywhere. I... did a lot of scientific research to figure this out.
If only I could get my hands one of these Plasma Sabers... I would be able to recreate it and we'd have a real, working model! Alas, it's but a dream...

Broken Sword Obtained[]

If the player has the Broken Sword in their inventory:

Hold on... is that a...! Why do you have a broken Plasma Saber with you? No matter, c-can I see it? I'd like to try to restore it, in the name of science and Gungam pilots everywhere...
Wow... I'll try to have it back to you soon...

Qi will take the Broken Sword from the player and the mission ends.

Broken Sword Not Obtained[]

If the player does not have the Broken Sword in their inventory:

Still, if you're interested, I do have some idea on where you might be able to find a relic saber. I know of several areas around Sandrock that had been under Old World military control. Maybe you can take a look around these places.

The Broken Sword can be obtained from the cave in the Eufaula Outback, the same cave from the mission The Kidnapping. It is in a separate room in the back of the area, attached to the main room where the confrontation with Logan took place.

Once obtained:

(This must be the sword Qi was talking about. I should take it back to him.)

The player will need to talk to Qi again:

You've found a copy of the saber?!
Wonderful. It looks quite exquisite, besides its condition, mind. No matter, c-can I see it? I'd like to try to restore it, in the name of science and Gungam pilots everywhere...
Wow... I'll try to have it back to you soon...

Qi will take the Broken Sword and the mission ends.

Post-conduct[]

A mail from Qi[]

The day after the player gives him the sword, Qi will send a letter.

Mission: Definitely Not a Ninja Sword (40)

From Qi

From: Qi

Player

I had thought the sword would be a pitance to design, but I have had some slight run-ins with the laws of thermodynamics and may need to extend the deadline by a bit.

Nevertheless, I think you can expect results within the next ten to fifteen days.

Despite what the letter says, the sword will not be completed in any set amount of time. It will be completed after the player finishes the mission Into the Abyss.[verify]

Another mail from Qi[]

The day after Into the Abyss is completed, Qi will send another letter:

Mission: Definitely Not a Ninja Sword (42)

From Qi

From: Qi

Player

The sword, my masterpiece, is ready to be built! Come and get the diagram immediately! I need to fill you in on a few details, before I give it to you...

Despite what the letter says, there is no diagram for the weapon. Qi will just give the player the weapon itself.

On entering the Research Center, the player will come across Qi with a large mess around his workbench.

Ah... Player. I was uh, studying how Gungam pilots used this saber.
I think I've recorded enough data to last me a while, excuse me.

The screen fades to black. When it fades back in, the mess is gone.

Thank you. I've managed to successfully repair the sword. Although I doubt it'll reach the potential of an Old World version, it is still extremely powerful.
Ahem. Anyway, since you found it, I think it fitting that you have it. Do be very careful though. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a spaceship to study.

The player receives: Altair RX-67
