In the past six years, I’ve had five total loss fires submitted.Every one of them handled phenomenally by our claims department and I insured every single one of those policyholders in their rebuild or the new home they decided to buy instead of rebuilding. I think that says a lot about our Texas Homeowners policy and a little about our agency. The homeowners insurance underwriting restrictions are getting tighter for new business. If ever you submit a water claim and have repairs done, save that documentation for five years. If you end up wanting to shop around, the new company will likely ask for supporting documentation to show the repairs were done. Even if you’re not a ‘sales-y’ person doesn’t mean you wouldn’t do incredibly well in a sales role. Some people think you have to be a fast talking, slick, just care about making the money kind of person. That couldn’t be further from the truth, at least when it comes to the insurance industry, well…in our agency anyway.
