Early life

John Bradley Holmes, and was born on April 26, 1982, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, United States. He started playing on the varsity golf team while studying in third grade. He was then attending Taylor County High School. Holmes had difficulty in reading and writing in school as he suffered a mild form of dyslexia.

Holmes participated in the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour while he was still studying in high school. Later, he studied at the University of Kentucky, where he achieved an SEC Title, and there, he represented his nation in the 2005 Walker Cup. Following year, he turned professional and started competing on the PGA Tour.

Holmes’ bad days continued in 2013 after he was limited to participate at six PGA Tour events after suffering from elbow and ankle injuries. He returned back on the Japan Golf Tour at Dunlop Phoenix Tournament. Holmes had to get entry at the 2014 Players Championship through FedEx Cup points to retain back his good form and regain his Tour status.

His hard work paid off him well, as he was able to register his first victory in six years. The victory helped him to improve his ranking from 242 to 68 in the OWGR, and he made an entry in the 2014 PGA Championship. In February 2019, he registered his fifth PGA Tour victory at the Genesis Open. It was his first victory in nearly four years.
