This recipe is perfect for serving at Christmas breakfast or after a fun day of playing in the snow!
Ingredients needed for Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate recipe:
- milk (I used 1% – the higher percentage you use, the more creamy it will be!)
- sweetened condensed milk
- milk chocolate chips (I used Ghirardelli)
- heavy whipping cream
- vanilla extract
How to make Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate:
In the bottom of your slow cooker, combine milk, sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, heavy whipping cream, and vanilla extract (I used a large wooden spoon).
Place lid on slow cooker and cook on low heat for about 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes or so (I actually used a whisk to stir it to help make it smooth).
It’s ready to drink when the chocolate chips are completely melted and the hot chocolate is smooth.
Once it’s finished cooking, switch the heat on the slow cooker to “keep warm” and this hot chocolate is good for a few hours (I kept mine on warm for almost 5 hours during the day and people kept coming back to get more!). You will just want to be sure to give it a good stir/whisk every 45 minutes or so.

Gayle says:
My family loves this hot chocolate! They asked for it again the next weekend. I am curious though. Can you save this in fridge and reheat?
-
Momma Cyd says:
It should save in the fridge, but will take longer to reheat after being refrigerated.

Britney says:
Can you double this recipe in one crockpot? It doesn’t say how much a single batch makes.
-
Momma Cyd says:
With your six cups of milk and 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream, you are to 1/2 gallon. You still need to add in all the chocolate chips and condensed milk. So you could easily double this if you have a big slow cooker.

Katie says:
Super easy and delicious. Very creamy, marshmallows aren’t even needed.
