There are a few new secrets and cheats in the Dead Space remake that unlock some cool little easter eggs, and even a secret ending. Here's a list of the cheats and secrets we know of so far.

There are even more cheats for the original Dead Space, but unfortunately, they don't seem to work for the remake. You can find them here:

  • PC Cheats

Sea Shanty Audio Log

From Collin MacGregor on Twitter: Head to the breakroom on Floor 3 of The Bridge, stand in the red circle, and input a specific series of actions to unlock a hidden audio log with a fun sea shanty about the Ishimura. Watch the video above for complete instructions on how to get the code to unlock the sea shanty, and to watch the entire sea shanty as well.

Here's what you need to do: melee, stomp, melee, melee, stomp, melee, stomp, melee, melee, melee, melee, stomp.

Secret Alternate Ending

After completing the entirety of the Dead Space story, you'll unlock New Game+. Play again to find Marker Fragments. Collect all 12 to unlock an alternate ending. See everything you need to know on these pages or in the video above.

New Game Plus Sequel Tease

Although the biggest New Game Plus secret is arguably the presence of Dead Space's Alternate Ending, there's also another fun extra found in the RIG<meta />'s side missions log menu. When accessing the sub menu, you'll find a new text log added exclusively after beating the standard campaign.

This text log references The Sprawl: a huge space station operated by EarthGov and the main setting of Dead Space 2. Is this an indication that EA Motive may be back to remake Isaac's more action-heavy second outing? There's no definitive answer just yet, but it sure is a tantalising idea.

Revisiting Nicole and Isaac's Video Call

As those who've played the sequel might remember, Dead Space 2 opens with Isaac and Nicole having a brief video call. Nicole remarks that she keeps forgetting the time difference, waking Isaac up in the middle of the night when she calls.

This short message can actually be found as a log during Dead Space Remake's Nicole-focused side mission, Scientific Methods, with the log showing us Nicole's side of the message. When in Mining, head down to the fourth floor and look through the nearby storage containers. Within Storage Container 2, you'll find the log, which is titled "Thank you, Isaac".

Hidden Chapter Message

One that makes a return from the original Dead Space, after you've beat the game, take a look at the 12 chapter titles, as they've all been picked for a very specific reason. The first letter of every chapter name can be arranged into a hidden message, although this is one that entirely spoils the main twist of the game, so be wary of spoilers ahead.

The chapter names are as follows:

  • New Arrivals
  • Intensive Care
  • Course Correction
  • Obliteration
  • Lethal Devotion
  • Environmental Hazard
  • Into the Void
  • Search and Rescue
  • Dead on Arrival
  • End of Days
  • Alternate Solutions
  • Dead Space

Reading each first letter, that spells out NICOLE IS DEAD, teasing the very final twist of the game, where Isaac discovers that Nicole took her own life prior to Isaac boarding the Ishimura.

Schofield Tools

Although it's practically impossible to see when navigating the halls of the Ishimura, there is a fun returning easter egg printed across the side of your plasma cutter. When zoomed in, you'll be able to see the words Schofield Tools printed across the barrel of the gun.

Schofield Tools is a canonical company within the Dead Space universe, but it's also a direct reference to Glenn Schofield, one of the original creators of the 2008 game and a key figure in the series launch to survival horror stardom. Schofield left EA and now leads Striking Distance Studios, where he and his team created 2022's Dead Space spiritual successor, Callisto Protocol.

The Return of the Peng Treasure

A returning nod from the original Dead Space, players will once again be able to find the Peng Treasure: a hidden statue that can be sold for a ton of credits at the store. While the statue was originally hidden in the Hangar in 2008's Dead Space, it has been moved for the remake.

Players will now be able to track it down in the Cargo Bay. The area is first accessible during Chapter 11, with Isaac visiting the locale while transporting the marker to the hangar. The video above will show you the exact location of the trophy, which is found in some lockers after descending into the main portion of the room.

Battle Walker Figurine

Another small reference. When heading through the corridor leading to The Bridge, you'll come across a reception desk. Lodged between the window and the counter of this desk is a small mech figurine.

This mech bears a striking resemblance to the Battle Walkers found in Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield 4's Final Stand expansion. It's seemingly a fun nod to another EA franchise and one most fans will likely miss.
